Ingredients

8 slices sandwich bread (white or whole wheat, crusts removed)

¼ cup milk

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

3 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frying)

Instructions

Flatten bread slices with a rolling pin.

Spread a thin layer of cream cheese, Nutella, or jam on each slice. Add chopped fruit if desired, and roll up tightly.

In a shallow dish, whisk eggs, milk, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.

In another shallow dish, combine ¼ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for rolling after cooking.

Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.

Dip each roll up in the egg mixture, coating all sides, then place in the skillet seam side down.

Cook a few minutes on each side, turning to brown all over. Add more butter as needed for subsequent batches.
