Ingredients
For the Danish:
-
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
-
4 oz cream cheese, softened
-
¼ cup granulated sugar
-
1 egg yolk
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 cup thinly sliced fresh strawberries
-
1 egg white (for egg wash)
-
1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
For the Glaze:
-
½ cup powdered sugar
-
1 tablespoon milk
-
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
-
Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into roughly a 12″ square. Cut into 8 rectangles.
-
Spread cream cheese mixture evenly onto the center of each rectangle, leaving a ½-inch border.
-
Top cream cheese with sliced strawberries.
-
Mix egg white and water to make egg wash. Brush edges of each rectangle with wash to seal.
-
Fold edges inward and crimp to form a border holding the filling.
-
Place danishes on baking sheet and bake 15–20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
-
Cool for 10 minutes. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze and drizzle over danishes before serving.
