Description
Cherry Dump Cake is the ultimate easy dessert — just four ingredients layered and baked into a golden, bubbly treat. With sweet cherry pie filling and buttery cake topping, it’s perfect for potlucks, holidays, or quick weeknight desserts.
Ingredients
2 (21 oz) cans cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract (optional for extra flavor)
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) salted butter, thinly sliced or melted
Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or 1 cup sweetened coconut flakes for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
Stir the almond extract into the cherry pie filling if using, then pour the filling evenly into the dish.
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the cherries, spreading it evenly with the back of a spoon — do not mix it in.
Arrange the butter slices evenly over the top of the cake mix or drizzle the melted butter to cover the surface as best as possible.
Sprinkle with pecans or coconut flakes if desired.
Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling at the edges.
Let cool for 10–15 minutes, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
