Description
Achieve golden, restaurant-style fries with an air fryer using Russet potatoes and a simple soaking technique. These ultra-crispy, fluffy fries are healthier and faster to make than deep-fried versions, perfect for weeknight meals or gatherings. Seasoned minimally to highlight the potato flavor and extra crunch.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs Russet potatoes (about 4 large potatoes)
1/4 cup ice water (plus extra for soaking if needed)
2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Optional seasonings: paprika, garlic powder, or rosemary
Instructions
Peel and cut potatoes into 1/4-inch sticks
Soak in ice water for 30 minutes to remove starch
Pat potatoes completely dry with paper towels
Toss with oil and salt in a bowl
Preheat air fryer to 380°F (195°C)
Cook in single layer batches for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway
Optional: spread on paper towel to dry further before second batch
Notes
Use parchment paper for easier cleanup
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking
Add seasonings after second batch if using
Store leftovers in airtight container
