5–8 fresh peaches (about 4 cups), peeled, pitted, and sliced (or 2 cans peaches)
-
3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for peaches)
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
6 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
3/4 cup milk
-
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
-
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

-
Pour batter over melted butter in baking dish—do not stir.
-
Spoon peaches and liquid over batter—do not stir. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon or sugar if desired.
-
Bake 38–45 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Cool slightly. Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
