Description
A warm cobbler featuring sweet, bubbling peaches topped with a cake-like, buttery batter. Classic, simple ingredients yield a timeless flavor every time.
Ingredients
5–8 fresh peaches (about 4 cups), peeled, pitted, and sliced (or 2 cans peaches)
3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for peaches)
1/4 tsp salt
6 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
1/2 lemon, juiced (optional, for brightness)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt butter in a 9×13-inch (or 9-inch square) baking dish.
In a saucepan, mix peaches (and canned juice if using), 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and peaches release their juices.
Mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add milk and stir gently to make a batter.
Pour batter over melted butter in baking dish—do not stir.
Spoon peaches and liquid over batter—do not stir. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon or sugar if desired.
Bake 38–45 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Cool slightly. Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.
